Trees in the City

This year we have a special focus on trees in the city with a project called ‘Rooted in Puget Sound’ where we bring awareness to the value of trees in urban places that are benefiting communities in a variety of ways. From a notable tree you pass everyday to a urban park in the city, they all have a story!

We are looking for any and all landscape or wide images of trees mixing/contrasting with urban areas within city limits. If you would like to submit photography or video for this assignment please fill out the form below. There is also an opportunity to accompany images with a short description of your connection to the tree or location, please mention this in the form if interested. We would like to see submissions sent in by the end of the year!

Location Inspiration:

  • Occidental Square, Pioneer Square, Seattle. Show streets, building with trees as the hero/highlight

  • Community Orchard of West Seattle. Show Orchard mingling with buildings, sidewalks, parks or people.

  • Lake Union Park. Show lake side trees with the city in the background as well as people walking past trees with wide angles to show location

*Please note: This could be in any city! Seattle, Olympia, Spokane and beyond! Also if you have past images you think fit this assignment, all images are welcome.
