A bill to establish a dedicated wildfire resilience funding account, HB 1168, has passed the Washington state House unanimously! It’s now up to the Senate to act and help us get ahead of the state’s wildfire problem. This bill will support proactive wildfire resilience across Washington — including community preparedness, forest health and fire response capacity — and will move us beyond the unsustainable status quo of fighting fires at every turn.
In an especially busy session like this one, lawmakers need to hear from their constituents. That’s where you come in. Washington’s communities and landscapes don’t have any time to waste, either — we need the Legislature to help us get ahead of the wildfire problem now, before another fire season is upon us, bringing smoke-choked skies and endangering life and property.
Will you send a quick note to your state Senators today urging a vote on HB 1168?
