Weed Mapping Volunteer Hike

  • The Nature Conservancy in Washington 74 Wall Street Seattle, WA, 98121 United States (map)

What: Volunteers will be helping us map invasive plants in the Central Cascades Forest. This is an ongoing project that volunteers can participate on at any time after completing their volunteer forms and reviewing a virtual training. Participants can also choose to join us for a guided hike to learn about identifying invasive plants in the field.

Where: The Central Cascades Forest. We will be going on the guided hike on the Cle Elum Ridge.

When: The hike will be on Monday, August 2nd from 8:00 am to 10:00 am

Why: Although we currently partner with the Kittitas County Noxious Weed Board to control invasive plants on the roads in the Central Cascades Forest, noxious weeds are finding their way off of the roads and on to the trails via hiking shoes and bike tires. We need volunteers to help us identify where this is happening to inform the land management team so they can properly manage the plants.

How to sign up: Email tonya.morrey@tnc.org if interested. Space on the hike is limited, so please sign up as soon as possible.
