Over the last year Hillside Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden has worked hard to find solutions to problems brought forth by the community. After holding numerous public meetings, classes, and work parties, your help is needed to complete the last phases of our blackberry-covered hillside reclamation, food forest creation, and flood water mitigation plans. The work will include planting erosion-preventing native vegetation, water purifying rain garden plants, and food forest fruit trees. It is a large amount of work but these community driven solutions will help to decrease chronic flooding in the Mill Creek neighborhood, reduce the amount of pollutants being dumped into our waterways, and fight hunger for those experiencing food insecurity. With your help we will create a long lasting solution that will benefit generations to come.
