Our Government Relations Director Mo McBroom spoke at a working session of the House Capital Budget Committee on Tuesday about how projects proposed for the capital budget are win-win-win projects. They provide community benefits, environmental benefits, and job benefits.
Partners testified in more depth about specific projects, including the Washington Coast Restoration Initiative. The Washington Coast Restoration Initiative would provide $15 million in funding that would leverage more than $6 million in existing federal, state and private resources for more than 30 locally supported projects to restore forests, water quality and fish and wildlife habitat throughout Washington’s Pacific Coast counties.
Washington’s Pacific coastal counties depend on healthy forests, rivers, fish and wildlife. A coalition of partners has developed a prioritized database of projects that will sustain and restore these vital resources while providing good-paying jobs to communities that suffer from the state’s highest unemployment rates.
